Frequently Asked Questions
What does a bookkeeper do?
A bookkeeper records and organizes your financial transactions, reconciles bank accounts, manages accounts payable/receivable, and provides financial reports to help you understand your business performance.
How often do you do bookkeeping?
We offer flexible options for monthly or quarterly bookkeeping. It depends on your needs and the volume of transactions.
What accounting software do you use?
We primarily use QuickBooks Online, but we’re familiar with other platforms as well. We can help you set up or clean up your QBO file if needed.
Do I need to categorize my transactions myself?
Nope! That’s what we’re here for. We’ll categorize your transactions accurately and ensure your books are clean, complete, and compliant.
Can you help with catch-up or clean-up bookkeeping?
Yes! Whether you're behind a few months or several years, we can help you get caught up and ready for tax filing or financial decisions.
How do I know what documents you’ll need to file my tax return?
We will send you a personalized tax organizer with a list information and documents we will need to complete your return. We will also include a link to upload the documents to a secure portal to protect your personal information. Typically with new clients, we first ask for the prior year return to get a feel for what we will need in order to prepare the return.
Can you file taxes from previous years?
Absolutely. We can help file late returns and even assist with organizing prior-year financial records if needed.
How much do your services cost?
Our pricing depends on the complexity of your books and the scope of work. We offer flat-rate packages and hourly billing (for example, $100/hour for custom work). A free consultation will help us give you a quote.
How do I pay for services?
Invoices are sent via email and can be paid securely online. We accept payments through Stripe.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes. For larger projects or catch-up work, we offer progress billing. You’ll receive monthly invoices, with the final payment due at project completion.
Is everything done remotely?
We do prefer to do work virtually. You can securely upload your documents through encrypted portals, and we communicate via email, phone, or video meetings. However, if you need to meet with us in person to chat and/or exchange documents and are in the Fredericksburg, VA area, we can try and make accommodations.
How do I get started with you?
Just reach out via email, or our contact form to schedule a free consultation. We'll discuss your needs and send a proposal or engagement letter to begin services.
